The Nexus 2000 and 3000 are Evolution Aqua's established filter system incorporating the industry proven Kaldnes Moving Bed, coupled with the now recognised 'Answer' mechanical filter and new 'fines polisher' with air backwash. The 'Answer', launched 4 years ago, is a mechanical self backwashing screen which is low maintenance and will run for weeks before having to be cleaned.
Combined, they provide outstanding water clarity and quality.
These are for use on gravity fed systems.

how it works
The Nexus 2000/3000 are the same system in 2 sizes for different pond volumes (see tables). The 3000 is a Nexus 300 body with an Answer 410 and the 2000 is a Nexus 200 body with an Answer 325. The system you will need depends on your pond, desired flow rates etc.

The Answer sits in the central chamber of the Nexus and prevents all solids over 200 microns from entering the biological stage. The Answer is robustly engineered out of stainless steel and a proven technology within the industry. The pump that provides the power and cleaning action, draws filtered water from inside the Answer. It is then pumped into a hollow rotor arm. At each end of the arm are nozzles angled at 45 degrees Water pumped through these nozzles cause the arm to rotate. Water is forced out at high pressure against the inside of the screen continuously. This causes the water to backwash through the screen to the outside. The result is that particles lodged on the outside, which are naturally trying to get through, are forced away and eventually settle at the bottom of the Nexus central chamber. Here they can be sumped to waste.
The main benefit of the
Answer is that it will run continuously without blocking, protecting the bio-stage. The water after being cleaned in this central stage, enters the biological stage, which consists of the Kaldnes Moving BedTM Process. Kaldnes has been proven to be many times more efficient than static media. Incorporating the
K1 media and the Kaldnes Moving BedTM Process into the product range was a major breakthrough in the industry due to what can be achieved. It is by using this process that we have been able to achieve a smaller footprint. Kaldnes Moving BedTM Process, exclusive to Evolution Aqua is included within the
Nexus. An air ring at the base of the outer bio chamber releases air constantly agitating the media which provides the best possible environment for the bacteria to colonise. This in turn will create the optimum healthy environment for your fish.
Kaldnes bio-media is maintenance free allowing the biomass to fully mature, which maximises its effectiveness and creates constant parameters.
Maintenance and clarity
Another significant feature of this system is with the efficiency and ease of maintenance of the Nexus outlet which houses the fines polisher and airbackwash. The answer will allow particles smaller than 200 microns through the screen. These, although not a danger to the health of the pond, occasionally prevent the water from gleaming, so they need to be removed.
After the water has passed through the biological stage, it transfers through the full metal grill plate rising over a weir plate into a fine polishing unit which contains static K1 media; thereby entrapping any remaining fine solids dramatically improving water clarity. Periodically, this pack of K1 will need cleaning.
The circulating pump is turned off and the air is diverted from the bio stage using the fitted valve into the outlet chamber. Once the K1 has been agitated for a sufficient period, the dirty water is purged to waste using a 3/4 inch valve and pipework which needs to be fitted.
Now free of the fines, the system is restarted as normal. This new system gives the clarity that every pond owner demands, combined with a low, simple and effective maintenance regime.
There is no maintenance whatsoever in the K1 biological stage - Zero!
